Conserving the Indian Oceans - A new film series by Quiksilver Womens.
In celebration of World Oceans Day, we’re proud to bring to life a partnership with wildlife campaigner and presenter Alexandra Johnston, creating a four-part documentary series exploring and uncovering the faces, organisations and techniques being used to support the inhabitants of the Indian Ocean. Not only highlighting the work executed by the conservation teams, but equally the incredible women doing important work to draw global attention to these environmental issues affecting our playgrounds.
 
The four short films, directed, produced and presented by an all-female team, will dive beneath the Maldivian waves and highlight the people and organisations working on the ground to conserve and protect marine life in the area. 
 
Episode one
sees Alexandra take a deep dive into coral restoration programmes in the area, joining local Marine Biologist, Smrutica Jithendranath, to explore the construction of reef gardens to bring back life to the damaged ecosystem.
 
Episode two, Turtle Rehabilitation.
Continuing on from Episode 1, Alex heads to Four Seasons, Kuda Huraa resort to meet the organisation 'Marine Savers' who are rescuing and rehabilitating sea turtles. Here Alex learns about all the threats facing turtles and gets to join in on a release back into the wild.
Conserving the Indian Oceans is a 4-part series in partnership with Alexandra Johnston that acts not only to highlight the work executed by conservation teams helping to protect and restore our playground, but equally shine a light on the women doing important work to draw global attention to these environmental issues.
 
Episode 3 - Manta Ray Research
In episode 3 Alex highlights another endangered species, the Manta Ray. Follow Alex as shemeets 'Manta Trust' - an organisation who are helping to protect and conserve Manta Rays. Here, Alex learns the importance of research and data collection on Manta Rays, as there is still so much to learn about the species. She discovers the difficult truth of why they're endangered and what needs to be done in order to protect them.
 
Conserving the Indian Oceans Ep 4: Envrionmental Impact
Wrapping up the film partnership series we follow Alex looking to find conclusions from her experiences as she explores the fundamental issues facing the Indian Ocean and its inhabitants and seeks to find solutions for a better future.
